About Chris Parrow
I grew up in western New York State in the heart of the "Enchanted Mountains" and now live and work in eastern New York in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Here I find the nature and landscape that inspire me. I arrived here via my undergraduate studies at SUNY New Paltz, where I fell in love with everything clay - the wheel, glazes, forms, history of ceramic art, tools, the kiln, and sculpture and painting as well. Since graduating from New Paltz, I have been a studio potter, continued to paint, and am an adjunct drawing and design instructor at Sullivan County Community College.

Over the years I have had the great opportunity to study and learn from so many talented people - from my teachers at New Paltz, Ken Green, Bob Sedestrom and Ron Burke, to every artist I have every taken a class from or talked to or seen at a show, in a museum or art book, I owe my love of the arts to all of them.

I hope my work creates a sense of connection to craftsmanship and to the beauty of nature, and a joy in using it every day. The most asked question I have heard over the years is "How long did it take you to make that?" Second most asked, "Do you have any mugs?"
